Herrings Green Birds of Prey
In the spring term, we had a visit from Herrings Green Birds of Prey Centre. This visit coincides with our learning of the novel Skellig by David Almond. We were really lucky to meet and hold Midge, the barn owl, WD40, the Harris Hawk, Wilf, the black and white owl and Bronze, the kestrel. Whilst the birds flew to our arms, we had to demonstrate the value of courage and peacefulness. We did not want to scare the birds, so we had to remain calm and quiet. We will use the visit as a stimulus for our writing as we are going to write a non-chronological report on owls.
The visit coincided with World Book Day - hence our costumes!
